In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Bioloom Islands; "you" means anyone using this website. "The site" means bioloomislands.com and its pages.

2. Acceptance

By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. If you use the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

3. What this website is

This site is an informational and promotional website describing Bioloom Islands, our divisions and the services we offer. It is not a shop: you cannot buy anything, pay anything or place an order through it.

Nothing on this site is a binding offer. Descriptions of services, divisions and capabilities are provided to help you decide whether to contact us. Any work we actually do for you will be governed by a separate written agreement — see section 11.

4. Scientific information — important

We describe research areas such as CRISPR-based diagnostics, bioremediation, biosensors and crop biotechnology. These descriptions are general information about our field of work. They are not statements that any particular product exists, is available, is validated, is approved by any regulator, or is fit for any particular purpose.

Do not use anything on this site as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. If you have a health concern, consult a licensed medical practitioner. Where a product or service of ours requires regulatory approval or licensing, it will be supplied only in accordance with the applicable Sri Lankan or other governing requirements.

We aim to keep the information on this site accurate and current, but science moves and pages can go out of date. We do not warrant that everything here is complete, accurate or up to date at the moment you read it.

5. Intellectual property

The content of this site — text, page design, layout, graphics, the Bioloom Islands name and logo, and the tagline "Programming Life, Protecting Tomorrow" — belongs to Bioloom Islands or is used by us with permission. It is protected under the Intellectual Property Act, No. 36 of 2003 of Sri Lanka and equivalent laws elsewhere.

You may:

• View, download and print pages for your own non-commercial reference;
• Quote short extracts, provided you credit Bioloom Islands and link to the source page.

You may not, without our written permission:

• Republish, redistribute or sell our content;
• Use our name, logo or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation;
• Systematically scrape or copy the site;
• Remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notice.

Third-party names and logos shown on this site — including those of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn — remain the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify a link to our profile on that platform. We claim no rights in them and no affiliation beyond holding an account.

If you believe anything on this site infringes your copyright, tell us at info@bioloomislands.com with enough detail to identify the material, and we will investigate and remove it if the complaint is well founded.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of the Computer Crime Act, No. 24 of 2007 of Sri Lanka or equivalent law where you are;
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system;
• Probe, scan or test the site's security without our prior written permission;
• Interfere with the site's operation, or knowingly introduce malware;
• Use the contact form to send spam, bulk marketing, abusive, defamatory or unlawful content;
• Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your association with any person or organisation.

We may block access, without notice, to anyone who breaches this section.

7. What you send us

When you use the contact form, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate, that you are entitled to share it, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

Do not send us confidential information through this site. Enquiries arrive by ordinary email and are not encrypted end-to-end. If you have something confidential — an unpublished result, a potential invention, commercially sensitive data — contact us first and we will agree an appropriate channel, and a confidentiality agreement if one is needed.

Unless we have signed a confidentiality agreement with you, we cannot treat unsolicited ideas or proposals as confidential, and we remain free to develop similar ideas independently. We are not obliged to reply to any enquiry.

8. Links to other sites

This site links to external websites, including our own social-media profiles, Google Maps and our internship portal at internships.bioloomislands.com. Links are provided for convenience. We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or their handling of your data — which is governed by their terms, not ours.

9. Availability

We provide this site "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time without notice.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 9 of 2003 of Sri Lanka or equivalent law where you are.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on information published on this site;
• We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity;
• We are not liable for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, including your internet connection, your device, or the failure of a third-party service.

These limits apply to your use of the website. Liability for services we actually perform for you is dealt with in the agreement covering that work.

11. Services & separate agreements

Consultation, workshops and training, molecular services, internships and supply of laboratory products are arranged directly with us, not through this website. Each engagement is governed by its own written quotation, engagement letter, purchase order or contract, which sets out scope, price, timelines, confidentiality, intellectual property and liability for that work.

Where those terms and these website terms conflict, the terms of the specific agreement take precedence for that engagement. Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of this site. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law that applies where you live.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published on this page at the time you use the site is the one that applies, so please check the "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remain in force.
