Cookie Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026 Effective: 8 September 2026
bioloomislands.com sets no cookies at all. Not necessary ones, not analytics ones, not advertising ones. That is also why you are not shown a cookie consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, which the site can read back on later visits. Cookies are how most websites remember a login, keep a shopping basket, or — most commonly — recognise you again in order to build an advertising profile.
Similar technologies do the same job by other means: local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, tracking pixels, and device fingerprinting. This policy covers all of them, because the question that matters is not what the technology is called but whether something is being stored on or read from your device.
2. What we use
Nothing. To be specific, this website does not use:
- Cookies of any kind — first-party or third-party;
- Local storage, session storage or IndexedDB;
- Tracking pixels or web beacons;
- Device or browser fingerprinting;
- Advertising, retargeting or conversion-tracking tags;
- Social-media tracking widgets or embedded feeds.
You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Application (or Storage) tab, and look at Cookies and Local Storage for this domain. Both are empty.
3. Why you aren't shown a cookie banner
Cookie consent banners exist because storing or reading information on someone's device generally requires their permission. We store nothing, so there is nothing to ask permission for, and showing you a banner would be theatre rather than compliance.
If we ever introduce something that genuinely requires consent, a banner will appear at that point. It will let you refuse as easily as accept, nothing non-essential will load until you choose, and no box will be pre-ticked.
4. How we measure traffic instead
We would still like to know which pages people find useful. We use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service that records aggregate, non-identifying information only:
| What is recorded | What is not |
|---|---|
| Page URL visited | Your name or email |
| Referring website, if any | Your IP address, in stored form |
| Country (not city or address) | A persistent identifier for you |
| Browser and device type, broadly | Any record of your activity on other sites |
This produces counts, not profiles. We cannot single you out from it, we cannot follow you across the web with it, and there is no identifier stored on your device that would make either possible.
5. Third parties your browser contacts
Loading any web page means your browser makes requests, and whoever answers a request necessarily sees your IP address. On this site that is:
| Service | Purpose | Sets cookies? |
|---|---|---|
| jsDelivr | Serves the JavaScript animation libraries used for the site's visuals | No |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Anti-spam check on the contact form, if and when it is switched on | No — it is designed to work without them |
| Our own server | Serves the pages, images, fonts and stylesheets | No |
Fonts are served from our own domain. Many sites load their typefaces from Google Fonts, which sends every visitor's IP address to Google on every page load. We host ours instead, so that transfer does not happen.
Social media is linked, not embedded. There are no Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn widgets on this site. Those platforms learn nothing about your visit unless you click a link to them.
6. Controlling cookies anyway
Nothing here requires you to change your settings, but every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for any site — usually under Settings → Privacy. You can also browse in a private or incognito window, or install a tracker-blocking extension. None of this will affect how this website works for you.
7. If this changes
If we ever start using cookies or similar storage, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and — where consent is required — ask for it before anything is stored.
